Happy Birthday Mom

Happy birthday Mom - I hope you have a wonderful day.  I've been thinking about all the things we've done together.  For the first 10 years of my life it was just you and me.  We took the train lots of places, drove to Nanny's house from time to time, ate lunch at the Kresge's lunch counter, went camping, sang trios with Dad, rode the Maid of the Mist, travelled across Canada, went to lots of Army meetings...and my list could go on.

You made sure I was well, was safe, was well looked after.  You taught me to cook, to sew, to do laundry, what manners were and how to be well mannered.

You taught me about faith and prayer and surrender.  You showed me in a hundred ways what it meant to live sacrificially and to do so joyfully.

If I'm a good husband it has a lot to do with the training you gave me.

If I'm a good father, you helped me see the best in our family and what our values meant.

So today's your birthday.

I do hope it is a good day - and remember just as you pray for me, for us each day, so we pray for you!
